Any dog owner will tell you that housebreaking is the most important thing to owning a dog. If your new dog is housebroken then you can get on with other things in your life and your dog’s life.

If your new dog is not housebroken then it is okay to use the crate method as long as you do it properly and always use positive reinforcement and never keep the dog in the crate when you are home.

A Rottweiler rescue dog has been through a lot and one of the main things they need from a new owner is love and attention. Most times Rottweilers that have been abused are also neglected and when you get a Rottweiler rescue dog you need to let it know right away that things will be different. Be careful though as they are still aggressive dogs and you need to proceed at a slow and easy pace so that they have time to understand what is going on.

It is great to give an abused or abandoned dog a second chance at life and your Rottweiler rescue dog appreciates what you are doing for it. Never punish your Rottweiler as it can sometimes confuse punishment with aggression and may start to respond in kind.

Never punish your Rottweiler. They don’t like being punished and may respond with their own aggressive behavior so always be positive and always use a lot of love when dealing with your dog. Giving a rescued dog a second chance is a wonderful thing and if you give your Rottweiler the chance to settle in to your home then it can be a wonderful pet.
