Lighting Tips: Use Lamps

Lamps are useful task lighting and are excellent for enhancing ambient illumination. However they can also be used for decorative lighting and can transform a room. There are many different styles of lamps.

Tiffany lamps are made up of small pieces of stained glass and add class to your decor. They are a wonderful accent lamp and will set the style for the whole room. You can have a tiffany floor lamp or a table lamp, depending on where you are going to place it.

For a unique look you can try an oriental lamp. They are usually made of light wood, like bamboo and have opaque paper shades. They are nice decoration pieces that will make most rooms look good. They are an ideal addition to a room with an oriental theme.

For work, office lamps can be used. Their designs are simple and they omit a bright direct light. They can be utilized in your office or home computer area. Angle lamps are a good choice for detailed work.

Floor lamps can be useful for reading, as they can be positioned in corners of a room close to your favorite reading spots. Floor lamps come in a number of different types and can be quite decorative. You can either have a modern look with a contemporary type of lamp, or a traditional decor with a lighting fixture style like a Tiffany lamp.

For a soft diffused light you can try Torch lamps, which point upward and reflect light from the ceiling. They give a cozy feel to the area and are nice additions to existing ambient illumination. A bedroom or sitting room is ideal for these fixtures. You can also use different colors. A yellow light will add to the romantic feel.

You will select the size of the lamp depending on what you need it for and where it will be positioned. For instance a table lamp should be able to fit onto your desk or table. You will need to be sure that it is the right size and does not crowd out other items, but it should also be big enough to give you adequate illumination to work with. .

The weight of the lamp should be considered. A heavier lamp will be less likely to be knocked over. With heavier traffic and especially with young children, a heavier lamp would be the best choice. You can use a lighter more fancy lamp in areas where there will be less traffic.

It is important to choose the best style of lamp. There will be a choice of contemporary style or a more traditional look. The furniture and decor of your room will determine this.
